NRL fans spent $329 for a finals match with excessive penalties and minimal ball-in-play time.

The Australian

NRL fans paid $329 for a family ticket at AAMI Park to watch the most penalties blown in a finals match in six-years.

What's even more alarming and massively concerning for the game ahead of the grand final is that the hundreds of dollars were spent by fans on watching 22-minutes of actual ball-in-play action in the first-half of Melbourne's powerful preliminary final win over the Sharks on Friday night.

You have to go back to the 2019 finals series, a whopping 54 finals matches ago, to get anywhere close to the 18-penalties blown by referee Ashley Klein in Melbourne.

The Storm's 12-10 week one finals win over the Raiders in 2019 was the last time more than 18-penalties were blown, that match stymied by a total of 21-penalties.
