Brisbane Broncos lock down teen star Tupou Francis on long-term deal

Teenager Tupou Francis has signed a long-term, $600,000 deal with the Broncos, extending his contract until 2028.

Teenage prodigy Tupou Francis will help lead the Broncos forward pack post the Payne Haas era after he agreed to a long-term deal to remain at Brisbane.

It is understood that Francis has inked a new deal worth about $600,000 - one of the biggest the Broncos have ever offered a teen.

Francis - a lock - has recommitted to a deal to remain at the club until at least the end of 2028. He will be a top 30 player next year after finishing this season on a supplementary contract.

Prior to Haas's shock exit to the Rabbitohs, the Broncos had granted Francis permission to talk with rival clubs despite having 12 months left on his contract.

The potential release came with a hefty bounty - a $250,000 transfer fee - which rival clubs including Canberra and South Sydney were contemplating purchasing.
