Salmon, a key player in Cameron Ciraldo's squad, sustained the injury during the Bulldogs' recent comeback victory over the Canberra Raiders.
Initially, there were hopes that the injury might not be severe, but those hopes were dashed when Gould confirmed the diagnosis.
