The man behind a new world-class stadium across the Tasman says he has the blueprint to end a stadium war spanning more than a decade in the ACT, declaring: "Canberra is screaming out for something like this".

Mark Baker is the brains behind the fully-enclosed, 30,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Christchurch which is set to be opened during Super Rugby's Super Round on Anzac weekend.

The BESIX Watpac chief executive - whose Queensland-based company can lay claim to stadiums from Townsville to Saudi Arabia - is poised to deliver the $630 million Christchurch project on time and on budget, while Canberra Stadium is edging closer to its use-by date.
