Freestyle skier Laura Peel faces uncertainty for her fourth Olympics due to a knee injury sustained during training in Switzerland, raising concerns about her gold medal chances.
Canberran freestyle skier Laura Peel was set to take on her fourth Winter Olympics this week, hungry for redemption as an aerials gold medal favourite.
But days out from the start of the Milano-Cortina Games, the 36-year-old has suffered a cruel blow, with a knee injury putting her Olympic campaign in doubt.
"Laura Peel has sustained a knee injury during a pre Games training camp in Airolo, Switzerland," a statement from Australian team officials revealed on Tuesday night.
"Peel sustained the injury [Monday], upon which she was transferred to Zug in Switzerland for an MRI scan at a sports specialist clinic.
