Corey Parker backs Xavier Willison to step up as the Broncos free-up funds to replace Souths signing Payne Haas

Corey Parker supports Xavier Willison to fill Payne Haas's role as the Broncos prepare for significant recruitment opportunities after Haas and Reynolds depart.

The Australian

Brisbane legend Corey Parker has backed Xavier Willison to step up to replace Payne Haas, whose move to Souths has given the Broncos a $2 million war chest to attack the open market.

Brisbane's recruitment-and-retention committee will spend the coming days and weeks examining their salary-cap position following the departure of Haas and retiring skipper Adam Reynolds at season's end.

Haas is on around $1.2 million this season, while skipper Reynolds earns an estimated $600,000, meaning their absence from Brisbane's 2027 roster will free-up major funds for a recruitment drive.

There are 43 middle forwards off-contract at season's end, notably former Queensland Origin prop Frank Molo, Maroons hitman Josh Papalii, Dolphins hardman Ray Stone and Manly's Nathan Brown.
