The Canberra Raiders are making a final effort to retain veteran halfback Jamal Fogarty, with coach Ricky Stuart revealing that the club is in the process of negotiating a one-year contract extension.

Fogarty, who has been with the Raiders for the last four seasons, has impressed with his kicking skills and has become one of the top players in the league.

However, his future with the team has been uncertain since the arrival of Ethan Sanders and the emergence of U19 NSW Blues player as a potential long-term replacement.

The Manly Sea Eagles are reportedly interested in signing Fogarty, with a two-year contract offer worth $500,000 per season on the table.
