Hudson Young's impressive performance could lead to his selection over Angus Crichton for the NSW Blues in State of Origin.

The Canberra Times

Rugby league's eighth Immortal says Hudson Young could be on the verge of unseating Angus Crichton in the NSW Blues' back-row, with Andrew Johns declaring the Canberra Raiders star is mounting a case Laurie Daley could find "hard to ignore".

The season might only be three rounds old, but a State of Origin selection discussion rose to the top of the agenda on Nine's Sunday Footy Show as Johns and Brad Fittler broke down Canberra's last-start loss to Canterbury.

While the rise of Bulldogs back-rower Jacob Preston has added another second-rower into the mix for Daley's Blues, Fittler says Young has "gone to another level."

Young is averaging 130 running metres and three tackle breaks per game - and his short kicking game and penchant for freakish plays has turned heads.
