The Canberra Raiders' Viking clap, celebrating its 10th birthday, mixes elements from various teams, with the Tongan high commissioner as ambassador this season.

The Canberra Times

Part Minnesota Vikings. A dash of Seattle Seahawks. Some Iceland soccer team. And a drop of UCLA Bruins.

When you mix it all together you end up with the Canberra Raiders' iconic Viking clap, which celebrates its 10th birthday this season.

The Tongan high commissioner will be the Viking ambassador for the Raiders' first home game of the 2026 season - against Canterbury at Canberra Stadium on Thursday night - as part of the NRL's multicultural round.

While Australia's Federation Guard can no longer lead the clap with their drums, HMAS Harman have come on board instead.
