Brisbane coach backs Jonah Pezet as future halfback, succeeding Coby Black in 2027.
Brisbane coach Michael Maguire has backed Jonah Pezet to spearhead a golden age at the Broncos and says the boom playmaker can go to another level in the No.7 jumper made famous by Allan Langer.
Speaking for the first time about the signing of Pezet, Maguire believes the Broncos will inherit a halfback in his prime years when he arrives at Red Hill in 2027 via a 12-month stint at Parramatta.
The Broncos have been working on a scrumbase succession plan for the past two years, with Queensland under-19s Coby Black originally earmarked to follow in the footsteps of champion halfback Adam Reynolds.
But Black's decision on Monday night to quit the Broncos at the end of 2026 and link with Canberra has turned the succession plan on its head, setting the stage for Pezet to be Brisbane's No.7 kingpin in 2027.
