Jye Gray's injury proved to be an instant problem for the Rabbitohs with the fullback set for an extended stint on the sideline after suffering a dislocated shoulder.
Gray fell on his shoulder while being tackled early in the first half during South Sydney's clash against the Raiders in Perth.
He was assisted from the field with his arm in a makeshift sling wrapped up in his jersey as the Rabbitohs were beaten 36-34 to the Raiders.
However the damage was instantly felt by South Sydney.
The injury forced a major reshuffle for the Rabbitohs with Latrell Mitchell moving to fullback and Tallis Duncan shifting from right edge back-rower to left centre.
