Lachlan Galvin overcame a hospital stay to lead the Bulldogs to a 14-10 win over the Raiders, despite a fine.
Lachlan Galvin spent two nights in hospital prior to the Bulldogs' hard-fought win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
The Canterbury halfback's troubled build-up contrasted with his strong showing in helping steer the Dogs to a 14-10 win in Canberra.
Galvin spent last Saturday and Sunday night in hospital, requiring an intravenous drip to overcome a painful boil infection.
He was omitted from hospital last Monday and with a playing squad day-off from training on Tuesday, it left the 20-year-old just one training session - the Bulldogs light captain's run on Wednesday - to prepare for the important away clash.
Galvin showed his elite-level fitness by running nine times to fellow halves partner Matt Burton's six during the match, although the young Bulldogs star was slapped with a $1,000 fine for a hip drop on Raiders skipper Joe Tapine.
