NFL stars react to Matt Burton’s viral kicks

Bulldogs' Matt Burton impresses with his elite long-distance kicks, famously known as 'Burto-bombs,' even hitting a training facility roof.

    Zero Tackle

It's not the first time Bulldogs five-eighth Matt Burton has caught the eye of overseas viewers with his 'Burto-bombs' and long-distance kicks.

The NRL knows Burton for his elite kicking ability, particularly on how long and high he can put it up.

It makes fullbacks and wingers have nightmares even thinking about it.

The Bulldogs went to the Las Vegas Raiders training facility and when the club was there on Tuesday, Burton kicked a ball that hit the roof inside.

  • Update on injured Raider's round one hopes

    David Polkinghorne

Matty Nicholson trained at Raiders camp, aiming to be fit for round one, despite shoulder issues from a recent injury during a trial match.

    The Canberra Times

Matty Nicholson has taken his first step towards being fit for round one.

The England international trained at the Canberra Raiders camp at Batemans Bay on Tuesday, without having had a scan on his left shoulder.

Nicholson's shoulder was strapped and he was restricted from doing contact training as he pushes to be ready to face Manly at Brookvale on March 7.

He suffered a shoulder subluxation in the Raiders' trial against Cronulla in Gosford on Saturday, getting his arm in an awkward position trying to tackle Addin Fonua-Blake.

  • NRL pre-season challenge: Sione Katoa injured as Cronulla Sharks win 48-6 over Canberra Raiders

NRL pre-season challenge: Sione Katoa injured as Cronulla Sharks win 48-6 over Canberra Raiders

Cronulla's Sione Katoa hobbled off with a groin injury during a 48-6 win over Canberra, raising fitness concerns.

    The Australian

Cronulla will be sweating on the fitness of Sione Katoa after he hobbled off with an apparent groin injury after an innocuous carry to sour their dominant win over Canberra.

The Sharks were way too good for an understrength Raiders side as they cruised to a 48-6 win in Gosford, with their halves controlling the contest a week after they performed well in the All Stars fixture.

But the focus will be on Katoa's fitness just days after false claims he'd suffered a serious shoulder injury, with Cronulla already missing superstar winger Ronaldo Mulitalo with a knee injury while playing for New Zealand.

Sam Stonestreet will replace Mulitalo on the left wing, with Mawene Hiroti the man most likely to come in for Katoa if he's unable to play in the early rounds.

Canberra's Matty Nicholson came off after a few minutes with what looked like a shoulder injury and didn't return.
