Daley unsure about Jake Trbojevic captaining in 2025, Bellamy joining as advisor, other potential captains considered.
NSW coach Laurie Daley has cast fresh doubts over whether Jake Trbojevic will remain Blues captain in 2025 after admitting he will have to settle on a squad first, before he picks a skipper. And Craig Bellamy has touched on his appointment as Daley's advisor with the Blues as they look to build on former NSW coach Michael Maguire's success over the Maroons last year and claim back-to-back series wins.
There have been calls for Daley to replace Manly forward Trbojevic as skipper, despite the 31-year-old leading the Blues to a come-from-behind 2-1 series triumph last year. Trbojevic only played 85 minutes out of 240 across three matches and was only used for 23 minutes in the Suncorp Stadium series decider, raising major questions around his role.
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart suggested earlier this year that Penrith's four-time premiership winner Nathan Cleary should be the long-term captain. While Panthers teammate and Blues vice-captain Isaah Yeo is also another strong candidate after being named Kangaroos skipper last year. Sea Eagles lock Trbojevic admitted last month that he wasn't sure whether he'd remain captain under Daley but insisted he was keen to keep representing his beloved state.
