Reece Walsh struggling with form at Broncos, possibly due to being "gun shy" after last year's incident.
Reece Walsh has made an underwhelming start to the 2025 season with the Broncos, and rumours are rife that he might have become a bit "gun shy" after a nasty incident last year. And if it turns out to be the case, the Broncos might have coach Michael Maguire to blame.
Walsh had one of the worst games of his young career on Saturday night as the Broncos lost 32-22 to Canberra. The 22-year-old made four errors and missed four tackles, and appeared to be trying too hard whenever he got ball in hand.
Walsh - who recently signed a $5 million extension - ran the ball 13 times, but his first instinct was always to pass and he didn't appear keen on challenging the line. Speaking on SEN radio on Monday night, former NRL player Mat Rogers floated the theory that Walsh has become "gun shy" after being flattened by Joseph Suaalii in State of Origin 1 last year.
