Canberra Raiders recruit Daine Laurie faces an NRL Integrity Unit investigation over a drug possession charge from last season.
Less than a week before the Canberra Raiders kick off their 2026 NRL campaign, one of the club's best new recruits is at the centre of an off-field controversy.
The Penrith Panthers and the NRL have confirmed to The Canberra Times that versatile Raiders playmaker Daine Laurie is the subject of an Integrity Unit investigation over a matter that occurred at the end of last season, when he was still under contract with the western Sydney club.
A Panthers spokesperson said the had been "in discussions with the NRL over the past few days about the matter", but there would be no further comment.
A day before the Raiders name their round one team to face the Manly Sea Eagles this weekend, a Daily Telegraph report emerged claiming that Laurie did not notify the NRL of being charged by NSW Police last year for drug possession, which has sparked the Integrity Unit probe.
