Penrith legend criticizes Dally M judging in Sharks' loss to Canberra, highlighting snub of standout player.
Penrith legend Greg Alexander has called out the Dally M judging in the Sharks' loss to Canberra after Addin Fonua-Blake picked up six points, while Hudson Young was snubbed by one judge completely. The Raiders escaped with a 24-20 win over the Sharks last Friday night after a last-minute try from Sebastian Kris sealed the victory in dramatic fashion.
Young was widely considered the best player on the Raiders team having scored two tries in a barnstorming effort at GIO Stadium. The second-rower ran for 150 metres, made 28 tackles and recorded two linebreaks in a strong display to keep the Raiders on the front foot.
However, both Dally M judges deemed Sharks prop Fonua-Blake was the standout. The 29-year-old ran for 213 metres and made 38 tackles, but had no tries, offloads or linebreaks. While Fonua-Blake was arguably the best player on the Sharks' team, many don't believe he was the best player on the field with Young producing the goods in attack on numerous occasions when his team needed it.
