Is this the price of NRL popularity? The Canberra Raiders are flying high this year. So high that online scammers are posing as Raiders players, targeting fans with fake "get rich quick" schemes, sparking concern for vulnerable supporters as the NRL grapples with another social media storm.

Facebook accounts under the guise of Raiders captain Joe Tapine, veteran prop Josh Papali'i and star rookie Savelio Tamale have been created, with bewildered Canberra fans receiving friend requests and direct messages with proposals to "earn extra income".
