Canberra Raiders faced redemption after an epic finals game, with awards highlighting their achievements.

Throwing on a suit was probably the last thing the Canberra Raiders wanted to do after what is being described as the most epic finals game in history.

But the first step towards redemption started with a look in the rear-view mirror, and a night of award shocks and legendary honours might be the perfect tonic for an NRL recharge.

Raiders captain Joe Tapine claimed his fourth consecutive Mal Meninga Medal as Canberra's player of the year on Monday night, while Simaima Taufa won the NRLW side's award for the third time in a row.
