Raiders ready for blockbuster in the bush

Canberra Raiders face Penrith Panthers in Mudgee, celebrating grassroots rugby league's future stars.

Grassroots football and the next generation of rugby league players will be the focus of the Canberra Raiders' blockbuster clash with the Penrith Panthers in Mudgee.

The match is being held in the regional NSW town on Friday 22 August as part of the Telstra Footy Country Round.

The round promotes where it all began - local footy fields, muddy boots, and junior club pride, while also celebrating the next generation of footy legends.

Second rower Simi Sasagi - who has just been re-signed to the Raiders until the end of the 2028 season - said it was cool to play at a country ground.
