He didn't say it in response to the mysterious R360 rugby union competition that is allegedly happening in October next year. He said it 20 years ago when the Australian Rugby Union was poaching rugby league players like Lote Tuqiri, Mat Rogers and Wendell Sailor.

An Australian Schoolboys representative in rugby union in 1985 who also toured Argentina with the Wallabies in 1987, Stuart knows what it's like to be torn between the codes.

He had a yearning to play league, staving off offers from Balmain, Manly and the newly formed Newcastle Knights to join Canberra, going on to win premierships, State of Origins for NSW, and memorable Test series for Australia.
