
Rugby league legend Sam Backo, 64, remembered for his unique contributions and character.
Rugby league great Sam Backo has been remembered as a "one-of-a-kind footballer" and "larger-than-life character" after his death at 64.
The ARL Commission confirmed on Sunday that Backo, who had been facing major health problems in recent months, had died.
Backo, an outstanding front-rower, played 116 games with the Raiders and 20 for the Broncos from 1983-1990, as well as 18 matches with Leeds in the UK between his stints with Canberra and Brisbane.
