The NRL view the Tom Starling no-try decision as a 50-50 call that could've gone either way.

And footage has emerged of Canterbury hooker Reed Mahoney suggesting the Max King go-ahead try should've been a penalty to the Canberra Raiders about 25 metres out from the Bulldogs' line.

The NRL have taken a different approach to refereeing decisions this season, scrapping football boss Graham Annesley's weekly press conferences and declining to comment on anything that isn't a clear-cut mistake.
