Joe Tapine re-signed with Canberra Raiders, aiming for a legacy, a premiership, and to mentor the next captain.

The Canberra Times

Canberra Raiders skipper Joe Tapine didn't want to make a big deal about his quiet re-signing late last year to remain in the capital long-term.

But in what is potentially his final NRL contract, Tapine has big plans to leave a legacy and achieve two main goals - win a premiership and mentor the club's next captain.

Tapine confirmed that his original deal 'til 2027 had been extended to 2028 with an option to stay in Canberra until the end of the 2029 season.

For the experienced prop that turns 32 next month, the re-signing is a "huge opportunity" to leave his mark on an NRL club he wants to be the last he plays for.
