Lachlan Galvin's performance in the PM XIII game left Wests Tigers fans feeling as deflated as a popped footy, with the young gun failing to shine on the international stage.

Despite the criticism, Penrith legend Greg Alexander defended Galvin, who was handpicked by coach Brad Fittler to lead the inexperienced side against PNG.

Teaming up with Raiders No.7 Jamal Fogarty and veteran No.9 Damien Cook, Galvin faced a tough challenge against a spirited PNG team.

This was Galvin's first taste of international footy, after a season that saw him light up the field for a struggling Wests Tigers side.
