Canberra's Don Furner dismissed claims Reece Walsh's gesture was in response to comments about his daughter.
Canberra chief executive Don Furner has dismissed suggestions that Brisbane superstar Reece Walsh was reacting to comments about his daughter when he flipped his middle finger at Raiders supporters on Sunday afternoon.
Walsh was charged with contrary conduct by the NRL match review committee on Monday morning after giving the bird to Raiders fans as he made his way up the tunnel, having been sin-binned at GIO Stadium.
Claims emerged on Monday morning that Walsh had reacted to comments about his daughter. However, Furner accused the Broncos of using public relations spin to protect their biggest star.
"I was standing next to the tunnel," Furner said.
