Raiders captain frustrated by penalty try awarded to Roosters in contentious call during game.
Canberra Raiders skipper Elliott Whitehead was left visibly frustrated as the Sydney Roosters were awarded a contentious penalty try in the opening half of
Saturday afternoon's game
.
The incident in question came in the 10th minute when Luke Keary chased a grubber close to the line, with Morgan Smithies turning in and making contact on the Roosters five-eighth.
The contact slightly impeded Keary and denied him a clear run at the ball, although Keary was still able to get a clean attempt at grounding it.
Referee Todd Smith sent the play up to the Bunker, with it ruled that Keary would have scored the try if it was not for the contact from Smithies, much to the frustration of Whitehead.
