Knights confirm return timeline for Bradman Best after groin injury

Bradman Best of Newcastle Knights will be out for a month due to a groin injury sustained against Canberra Raiders.

    Zero Tackle

Newcastle Knights star centre Bradman Best will miss a month of action after suffering a groin injury against the Canberra Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

The barnstorming centre played just half the game before being unable to continue, with the Hunter-based outfit going on to record a 32-12 win.

It was their fourth win in five starts, with the Knights now sitting second on the premiership ladder in a major surprise.

Newcastle released a short statement on Monday morning confirming Best has suffered a moderate groin strain, but should be back within four weeks.

Hudson Young charged over hair pull, Pompey facing suspension

Hudson Young avoids suspension for hair pull; fined $1,000 or $1,500 if he contests the charge.

    Zero Tackle

Canberra Raiders second-rower Hudson Young will avoid a suspension over a hair pull on Dominic Young during his side's loss to the Newcastle Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Young was penalised for the offence where he grabbed Young by the hair and pulled during a play the ball in the early going of the second half.

The Raiders' star, who is in line to be picked for the New South Wales Blues again this season, has been hit with a Grade 1 contrary conduct charge which will see him fined $1000 with an early guilty plea or $1500 if he fights and loses at the judiciary.

It's a first offence for Young on his rolling 12-month record.

“You’re allowed to headbutt”: Stuart blasts new precedent, Carrigan to sweat on MRC

Ricky Stuart urges Raiders to improve after a disappointing start, losing four of five games against strong Knights.

    Zero Tackle

Ricky Stuart has urged his senior playing group to help him get the Canberra Raiders out of an early season slump after the team dropped their fourth game in five starts against the Newcastle Knights on Sunday afternoon.

The high-flying Knights, who have been the competition's early surprise packet, now sit in second place on the ladder, but it's the Raiders who will draw plenty of attention out of the game.

Last year's minor premiers, sans Jamal Fogarty this year, have looked a shell of the team who were so strong through the first half of 2025 despite a horror draw.

Their trip to the Hunter on Sunday was no different, with the Green Machine struggling at both ends of the park and eventually coming up short by 20 points.
