NRL Market Watch: Raiders pull out of race to sign Sandon Smith, Blayke Brailey on verge of extending Sharks deal

Canberra has withdrawn from signing Sandon Smith, who is now exploring options with other teams.

Canberra have withdrawn from the race to sign Sydney Roosters half Sandon Smith.

This masthead understands that the Raiders informed Smith's management on Tuesday that they were heading in another direction.

Smith has been given permission to explore is options for next season and Canberra were one of the front-runners for his services along with North Queensland and Newcastle.

However, it is understood that the Raiders opted to retain faith their current squad, seemingly leaving the Cowboys and Knights to jostle for his signature.
