Adam Reynolds honored injured Billy Walters during the trophy presentation after the NRL Grand Final.
Adam Reynolds recently explained his decision to invite injured player Billy Walters to join him on stage for the trophy presentation after the Brisbane Broncos' victory over the Melbourne Storm in the 2025 NRL Grand Final. The event took place on Sunday evening at Sydney Olympic Park.
Unfortunately, Walters missed the match due to a knee injury sustained during the club's qualifying final win against the Canberra Raiders three weeks prior. Until that point, he had been integral to Brisbane's success, playing both as hooker and five-eighth after injuries sidelined both Ezra Mam and Reynolds himself in their earlier clash against the Storm. Walters has been diagnosed with an ACL injury and is expected to be out for a significant portion of the next year.
Despite his absence, Reynolds emphasized Walters' importance to the team, expressing that he was "honoured" to share the spotlight with someone who embodies the spirit of the Broncos. In his post-match press conference, he stated, "He is a huge part of the club. When I went down a few weeks ago, he was a huge shining light." Reynolds further remarked on the emotional impact of Walters' injury, saying, "To see him miss out, it's heartbreaking for not only all us players, but himself and his family. His attitude has been fantastic this year." He concluded his thoughts with the reflection that "it could have easily went the other way."
