The Dragons have backtracked on a potential name change amid backlash from fans and club legends after a survey asked members what the club should be called going forward.
The
survey asked fans to consider a number of naming options
going forward including: The St George Dragons, Southern Dragons, Greater Sydney Dragons, The Dragons or St George Illawarra Dragons.
Steelers legend Michael Bolt told
Wide World of Sports
the Illawarra faction of the club would not accept a name change that dropped the region from the club’s title.
