Mitch Kenny faces a prolonged recovery after a tackle by Kodi Nikorima, who is suspended for two matches. Hudson Young also receives a two-match suspension.

    The Canberra Times

The heartbreak of the Dolphins' extra-time loss to Penrith will ripple for two more weeks as Kodi Nikorima faces suspension for the tackle that hospitalised Mitch Kenny.

It comes as Canberra's Hudson Young receives his own two-match suspension for the high tackle he made on Sua Fa'alogo late in the Raiders' 26-22 win over Melbourne.

Nikorima is set to miss games against the Warriors and Storm for crunching Kenny in a hip-drop tackle during the Dolphins' 23-22 loss to the ladder-leading Panthers.

If he unsuccessfully challenged his grade-three dangerous contact charge - the most serious grading available - the Dolphins five-eighth would miss an additional game against Canterbury.

  • MRC hands out multiple suspensions and fines after Friday night blockbusters

Five weeks to go: Every NRL team’s run home, likely final ladder as more upsets shake up top eight race

The NRL's MRC suspended Hudson Young and Kodi Nikorima for two matches due to serious tackle incidents during Friday's games.

    Zero Tackle

The NRL's Match Review Committee (MRC) has handed down its findings from Friday night's double-header, with a pair of incidents resulting in significant suspensions following the clashes between the Canberra Raiders and Melbourne Storm, and the Dolphins and Penrith Panthers.

Canberra forward Hudson Young is facing time on the sidelines after being charged with a grade-two careless high tackle on Melbourne's Sua Fa'alogo. Young has been hit with a two-match ban with an early plea, which would increase to three matches should he choose to contest the charge and be found guilty.

In the later game, Dolphins playmaker Kodi Nikorima was also charged over an incident that left Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny hospitalised with a suspected leg fracture. Nikorima's tackle has been graded as a level-three careless offence, carrying the same sanction as Young - a two-match suspension with an early plea, rising to three matches if unsuccessfully challenged at the judiciary.

Several other players were sanctioned with fines following separate incidents across the two matches.

  • Raiders win soured by refereeing drama as Stuart questions calls

“You’re allowed to headbutt”: Stuart blasts new precedent, Carrigan to sweat on MRC

The Raiders triumphed 26-22 over the Storm, leaving Coach Stuart with mixed feelings despite praising their best performance.

    Zero Tackle

The Canberra Raiders have edged out the Melbourne Storm 26-22 in a gripping contest, but despite the result, coach Ricky Stuart was left with mixed emotions post-match.

Stuart praised his side's performance after what he described as their most complete showing of the season.

The Raiders started strongly, jumping out to a 12-0 lead and appearing in control early, only for momentum to swing at various points throughout the contest.

One key moment came when Hudson Young was denied a try for an accidental offside - a decision that visibly frustrated Stuart in the coach's box.
