Canberra's Simi Sasagi hid an engagement ring in his shoe collection, anxious about his girlfriend's cleaning habits before proposing.
For months, Canberra cult hero Simi Sasagi was terrified his girlfriend Kate would have an impulsive urge to spring clean their home.
Hiding in a shoebox in the back of his closet was a secret Sasagi had been keeping since January.
"I knew she wouldn't look - well, I was hoping she wouldn't - in any of the shoe boxes," Sasagi laughed.
"I had bought her engagement ring in January, I have a bit of a shoe collection, so I just hid it in the sole of a pair of shoes."
He was waiting for a good time to propose. When her family would be there, too.
