Hudson Young charged by MRC for Origin 3 dangerous throw as others learn fate

Hudson Young faces a Grade 1 dangerous throw charge for a tackle during Game 3 of the 2026 State of Origin series.

    Zero Tackle

NSW Blues and Canberra Raiders second-rower Hudson Young has been slapped with a Grade 1 dangerous throw charge by the NRL's match review committee, but is the only player charged during Game 3 of the 2026 State of Origin series.

Young was placed on report in the fifth minute of the game for a dangerous throw on Jojo Fifita, where he tipped well above the horizontal.

The Grade 1 charge will see Young fined 7 per cent of his match fees with an early guilty plea, or risk 10 per cent by fronting the judiciary.

Young was also likely worried about a high shot later in the first half, as he hit a falling Kalyn Ponga taking a catch.

Steve Keir, a Canberra rugby league legend, is battling cancer while the community supports him and his family.

    The Canberra Times

Steve Keir wandered through the car park before training and caught the eye of one of Canberra rugby league's most iconic figures.

"Mate, what are you doing here? We haven't got any money to give you," legendary coach Brian Bourke told the dazzling outside back who had stints with the Canberra Raiders, Eastern Suburbs and North Sydney.

"Mate, I'm just happy if you give me a couple of beers after the game," Keir grinned. And in the 37 years that followed, the Gungahlin Bulls legend earned every one.

Now the rugby league community is rallying around Keir, wife Di and their family as the man hailed as "the backbone of the Bulls" battles cancer.

Josh Papali'i's return boosts Canberra Raiders as they aim to revive their minor premiership defense, currently sitting in 13th place on the ladder.

    The Canberra Times

Noah Martin and Josh Papali'i will make their much-anticipated returns from injury as Canberra look to rescue their minor premiership defence.

Fresh from a bye, the Raiders know every game until the end of the season is a must-win, with the Green Machine currently languishing in 13th spot on the ladder.

Their hopes of making the finals have been boosted by the addition of Papali'i, the most-capped Raider and one of the important leaders for the young club, after he picked up a calf injury in April.

"The word I use is his presence," outside back Seb Kris said when describing Papali'i.
