    CRRL Releases 2026 GTS Draw

    The 2026 GTS draw features 8 teams, starting April 11, with 15 rounds and a Grand Final on September 12.

    The CRRL is pleased to announce the 2026 Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield draw. 

    This year's iteration of the competition will consist of 8 teams, with the Binalong Brahmans not competing this season.

    Beginning on the same weekend as the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup (April 11/12), the GTS will run for 15 Rounds with the Grand Final scheduled for 12 September. 

    Four scheduled bye rounds will take place throughout the season:

    • April 25/26 (ANZAC Day)
    • May 16/17 (Rep Round)
    • June 6/7 (Monarch's birthday)
    • August 15/16 (Washout Round)

    The CRRL mourns the passing of Paul Barry, a legendary coach and player who shaped rugby in Canberra.

    The CRRL are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Barry. 

    A true legend of the Canberra Region Rugby League, Tuggeranong Buffaloes and Buffaloes Old Boys Association, Paul leaves a lasting legacy as a player, coach and volunteer. 

    During his playing days, Paul represented the Canberra District and applied his trade at the North Canberra Bears. 

    In 1974, he became the first Captain-Coach of the Tuggeranong Buffaloes, laying the foundations for what the club has become today. Paul leaves a lasting legacy on the many players he coached at both junior and senior levels, shaping not only footballers but young men in the community.

    Katrina Fanning AO appointed Australian Universities Rugby League Women's Ambassador, enhancing women's rugby league.

    Inaugural Jillaroos team member Katrina Fanning AO PSM has accepted the position of Australian Universities Rugby League Women's Ambassador in a major boost for the organisation.

    Apart from playing 26 tests for Australia in a career spanning 14 years, Fanning was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame in 2024 and was appointed Chair of the International Rugby League Women's and Girl's Advisory Group last year. The major women's tackle competition in Canberra, the Katrina Fanning Shield, is named in her honour. Ms Fanning is a former chairperson of the Australian Rugby League Indigenous Council and has been a board member at the Canberra Raiders since 2019.
