Goulburn Bulldogs president John Sykes received a 15-year ban for abusive conduct, resigning amid a major rugby league controversy.
A club president says he deserves his 15-year ban, but he'd "rather be a lion" who'd done the right thing by his club "than a sheep".
Goulburn Bulldogs president John Sykes has been forced to resign due to NSW Rugby League's whopping ban, with Sykes suspended for 10 years - until May 24, 2036 - before going onto a good-behaviour bond.
The Canberra Raiders Cup club will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Monday to elect his replacement.
"John Sykes is suspended from all rugby league activities from any official or unofficial alliance to any club for a period of 15 years," the notice of outcome said.
