Daine Laurie becomes crucial for the Raiders amid injuries, retaining his spot on the bench for the upcoming game.

The Canberra Times

Daine Laurie came to the capital this season knowing he'd have to earn the right to play in the NRL every week, and as injuries begin to pile up for the Canberra Raiders the experienced playmaker now emerges as one of their most valuable weapons.

The Raiders named a massively reshuffled squad for their round nine game against the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday, but Laurie retained his spot on the bench after his club debut last week.

Coach Ricky Stuart needs his versatile Mr Fix-It right about now for good reason.

Back-rowers Noah Martin (ankles) and Zac Hosking (concussion) joined Josh Papali'i (calf) on the injured list on Tuesday, and five-eighth Ethan Strange (ankle) and back-rower Simi Sasagi (hamstring) still need to pass fitness tests on Friday to play this weekend.
