    The Queanbeyan Rams. Locker Room can reveal that was almost a Katrina Fanning Shield team in 2026.

    The Woden Valley women were considering a move to the Queanbeyan Kangaroos in the wake of the Rams' failed bid to appoint Ashley Barnes as their Canberra Raiders Cup head coach for next year.

    But in the end the Woden women decided to stay - although some players could still leave - and the NSW Rugby League stepped in to prevent Barnes' registration as a coach.

    Adam Quinlan, a former fullback for the St George Illawarra Dragons, has secured a head coaching position for the 2026 season.

    Having last played in the NRL in 2016, Quinlan is now the head coach of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, who participate in the Canberra Raiders Cup.

    His appointment follows the Kangaroos' close call in the 2025 grand final, where they fell just two points short of the title, losing 28-26 to the Queanbeyan Blues.

    Former Dragons fullback earns head coaching role

    Adam Quinlan, ex-NRL player, appointed head coach of Queanbeyan Kangaroos for 2026 season.

    Adam Quinlan, a former NRL fullback for the St George Illawarra Dragons, has been handed a head coaching role for the upcoming 2026 season.

    Last playing in the NRL in 2016, Quinlan has been appointed as the new head coach of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, who compete in the Canberra Raiders Cup.

    "Please join with us in congratulating and warmly welcoming our newly appointed 2026 First Grade Coach - Adam Quinlan," a statement from the Kangaroos read.

    "Adam needs no introduction. A former NRL player with over 100 first-grade appearances for St George Dragons, St Helens and Hull Kingston Rovers.
