Canberra Raiders front-rower Josh Papali'i has disclosed that he had reservations about relocating his family overseas when contemplating a new contract following his retirement from professional league.

Papali'i officially announced his retirement on Monday, with fans gathering at GIO Stadium this weekend to honor the celebrated player.

This weekend, the 34-year-old will participate in his 341st NRL match, playing for the Green Machine against the Brisbane Broncos on Friday. Throughout his career, he has represented Queensland, Australia, and Samoa at the highest levels.

Although rumors circulated about Papali'i transitioning to the Super League post-season, he played a crucial role in securing the Raiders their 2025 minor premiership. He was even recalled by Billy Slater for Queensland's State of Origin Game 3 decider.
