Billy Walters now supports Brisbane's defensive system, aiming for a team-focused win against Canberra.

    The Canberra Times

Billy Walters has embraced the new Brisbane defensive system he was once sceptical about as he prepares to play Canberra in the best form of his career.

The versatile 31-year-old's punishing defence while playing five-eighth against Melbourne in the 30-14 win last week clearly inspired his teammates.

That team effort was the blueprint Walters said the Broncos must adopt in the away qualifying final clash with the Raiders on Sunday.

Broncos 'bus-gate' drama with Raiders escalates ahead of NRL finals clash

Tensions rise between Broncos and Raiders over parking disputes and injury mind games ahead of finals.

    The Australian

It's the argument over a parking space that has ignited tensions between the Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders.

The Broncos' increasing agitation towards the Raiders can be revealed following revelations that Brisbane CEO Dave Donaghy escalated concerns all the way up to NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo over where the Broncos' team bus was made to park outside Canberra's GIO Stadium earlier this season.

The development has emerged ahead of the teams' huge NRL qualifying final clash back at GIO Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and amid the Broncos' sceptical view that the Raiders are playing mind games over an ankle injury to veteran prop Josh Papali'i.

This masthead can reveal that tensions were triggered when the Broncos' team bus arrived at GIO Stadium for their round 2 game, which the Raiders won 32-22.

'Haven't missed a beat': Reynolds backs Hunt after delaying return

Adam Reynolds supports Ben Hunt and Billy Walters in the final while delaying his return.

    LeagueNews.co

Adam Reynolds, the Broncos captain, has expressed his support for Ben Hunt and Billy Walters to lead the team against the Raiders in the qualifying final on Sunday, despite postponing his own return for at least another week.

Reynolds completed a fitness test on Tuesday ahead of the finals match announcements. Although he felt confident about playing, the decision was made to prioritize caution, especially since the loser in Canberra will have another opportunity to compete.

The prominent player sustained a hamstring injury during the Round 23 match against the Storm. Nevertheless, the Broncos managed to win all four of their subsequent matches without Reynolds and five-eighth Ezra Mam, earning a spot in the Top 4.
