    Albert Hopoate, an uncontracted outside back, is nearing a deal with a new club for the 2026 season after being released by the Canberra Raiders. This follows his farewell along with five other players at the end of the current campaign.

    A member of the well-known Hopoate family, Albert has played for the Canberra Raiders over the last four seasons, participating in 37 matches and scoring 13 tries. He previously spent a year with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2020.

    During the 2022 and 2023 seasons, he featured in 29 matches combined but had a disappointing 2023, appearing in just one first-grade game after suffering a ruptured ACL in reserve-grade play in March.

    One of six players farewelled by the Canberra Raiders at the end of this year's campaign, outside back Albert Hopoate is reportedly close to signing with a new team for the 2026 season.

    A member of the famed Hopoate family, Albert has spent the past four seasons with the Canberra Raiders in which he has played 37 matches and scored 13 tries adding to his one-year stint with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2020.

    Unavailable for selection, young guns Savelio Tamale and Jed Stuart have since overtaken him in the pecking order while the club have also signed Sione Finau from the St George Illawarra Dragons.

    After he wasn't offered an extension from the Raiders, The Mole from Wide World of Sports reports that Hopoate has signed with the Warrington Wolves in the Super League competition, pending a medical.

    Maguire's coaching career began under Bellamy in Melbourne, after which he ventured to England, where he achieved his first premiership victory with Wigan in 2010. He later led South Sydney to their own grand final success. As he prepares for the big match, he's eager to outmaneuver the coach who initially guided him.

    In an interesting revelation, Bellamy shared that he was the one who recruited Maguire from schoolboy rugby union and coached him at the Canberra Raiders, adding a personal twist to their competitive dynamic.
