Ben Hunt's player manager has denied reports the Maroons star is looking for an out from the Dragons.

Anthony Griffin's men have lost four games on the trot and languish in 15th on the ladder, as pressure once again mounts on one of the most maligned coaches in the NRL.

Amid suggestions Griffin is unlikely to receive a contract extension and could well leave Kogarah before the end of the season, speculation is rife that Hunt - who is close to Griffin and has supported him throughout the season - could seek a release.

Many expected Savage, viewed as the club's best fullback pre-season, would immediately take the job from Sebastian Kris on his return from a broken jaw, but the deputy's hot form has seen him hang on to the role.
