In a pivotal match, two Canberra Raiders forwards found themselves on report during their 30-22 defeat to the Dolphins in Canberra on Thursday, yet neither faced any penalties.

Referee intervention saw Morgan Smithies penalized after an incident involving Ray Stone; during a scrum, Smithies received a penalty for elbows directed at Stone, who was on the ground.

The crowd at GIO Stadium reacted with disbelief as the penalty was awarded, allowing the Dolphins to convert the goal and secure an eight-point advantage. This decision proved to be detrimental to the Raiders, preventing them from closing the gap to just one try.

Despite the significance of the call, it did not result in any severe repercussions for the English international.

Two Canberra Raiders forwards were placed on report during the side's 30-22 loss to the Dolphins in the nation's capital on Thursday, but neither have been sanctioned.

Morgan Smithies was pulled up by the referee following a Ray Stone error, where mid-way between packing the scrum it was overruled, and Smithies was penalised for elbows on Stone while he was on the ground.

To the disbelief of many in attendance at GIO Stadium, he was booked, and the Dolphins took the penalty goal to jump out to an eight-point lead. The call ended up becoming costly for the result, which kept the green machine out of a one try-scoring distance.

The game-changing penalty wasn't deemed severe enough to warrant a charge for the English international.

Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf praised his team's resilience in their historic 30-22 win, achieving four straight victories.

The Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf has praised his side's resilience following their 30-22 win over the Canberra Raiders on a brisk night in the nation's capital.

The Redcliffe-based club raised four-straight wins for the first time in the franchise's history, and is shaping up to be an intimidating threat come September.

With four of their stars away on State of Origin duties, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Max Plath and Thomas Flegler, the Dolphins stepped up big time with a job to do in Canberra.

They have the biggest representation of Origin talent for the Sunshine State out of all the Queensland sides, boasting four stars away on Maroons duties. It is an impressive feat for a club that only made its maiden appearance in 2023, a credit to their recruitment and retention.
