    Canberra legend Jarrod Croker has revealed the extent of Josh Papalii's injury but stopped short of saying it will keep him out of Sunday's qualifying final against Brisbane.

    The Raiders are sweating on the veteran prop's fitness after he went down at training on Tuesday with an ankle issue.

    He was named in the team on Tuesday afternoon but the club statement said Papalii will "will be assessed closer to the game".

    Jason Taumalolo and the Tongan rugby league team will prepare for the Pacific Championships with an inspirational visit to Tonga for the first time in six years.

    As the nation ramps up 150-year celebrations of the constitution, the Kristian Woolf-coached side will be in Tonga from October 14-18 before flying to Brisbane to prepare for the blockbuster clash at Suncorp Stadium against Samoa on October 26.  

    The last time the Tongan side visited their homeland in 2019 was a momentous occasion after the team had beaten Great Britain and Australia in an historic double in New Zealand.

    After 36 years commentating Canberra Raiders and ACT Brumbies games, Tim Gavel revealed he had told the ABC this would be his last year calling sport.

    Gavel dropped the news on social media, which led to a wave of well-wishes from the Canberra community, highlighting his legacy.
