Another team has entered the mix to secure the services of Canberra Raiders forward Trey Mooney after he was granted permission to speak with rival teams at the start of the week.
An under-19s NSW Blues representative and former member of the Australian Schoolboys team, Mooney recently inked a long-term contract to remain in the nation's capital until the end of 2027.
Set to enter the line-up for veteran front-rower Josh Papalii in 2026, the club blocked a move for him to move to the Newcastle Knights before the June 30 deadline.

Captain takes aim at rumours after reports slipping standards at the Green Machine
Raiders co-captain Temara criticized false rumors about midweek drinking and addressed recovery session issues.

Canberra Raiders co-captain Zahara Temara said it was disappointing stories were being made up about them drinking midweek, but they'd dealt with the fall in standards straight away.
A couple of Raiders players were late to a recovery session following their round-three loss to Parramatta, which Temara said had been dealt with when it happened.
But Temara took aim at rumours about midweek drinking ahead of last weekend's loss to North Queensland, where the Raiders were held scoreless to continue their winless start to the season.

Shane Flanagan defended NRL players who approach referees after referee boss Greg McCallum labels it 'harassment'
A refereeing official warns player harassment of officials threatens referee retention; NRL behavior criticized.

A senior refereeing official who controlled grand finals and State of Origin matches has admitted players are "harassing" match officials in behaviour that could be "dangerous to the retention of referees."
The comments come as St George Illawarra coach Shane Flanagan defended NRL players who approach referees, declaring: "They're just trying to get their point across."
NRL players have been called out for their on-field behaviour towards match officials with Raiders CEO Don Furner claiming the "arguing and berating" of referees was "totally out of control and a bad look for the game."
