The NRL has held its collective breath after horrific scenes saw Raiders forward Corey Harawira-Naera suffer a suspected seizure on the field.
The concern was immediate for Harawira-Naera as the game stopped immediately as soon as referee Grant Atkins realised he was in trouble.
It was instantly clear that Harawira-Naera wasn't just injured and players from both sides stood in front of the second rower in order to give him some semblance of privacy.
Canberra backrower Corey Harawira-Naera has been stretchered from the field during the club's match with South Sydney after collapsing during a break in play.
Harawira-Naera was waiting for a Rabbitohs drop-out during the 65th minute when he fell to the ground.
The New Zealand international appeared to have a seizure on the field as play was halted for close to 15 minutes.
"It was awful. I just spoke to the doctor and he said it was a seizure and they're unsure why. It doesn't seem to be any contact to the head, they're at a loss as to why it occurred," said Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.
Harawira-Naera had been limping in backplay before taking a run in a set midway through the second half at Accor Stadium.
He had returned to a position for a line-dropout before collapsing on the ground, twitching and apparently unconscious.
Medical staff rushed to attend to the second-rower and players encircled him to allow staff to work privately.
