We love the mighty Canberra Raiders
Mal Meninga wasn't "pretty enough" to play too big a role, but he was just glad to be part of the Tina Turner phenomenon that dragged rugby league along with it.
Meninga can be seen shaking hands with Turner during the NSWRL's brilliantly successful ad campaign Simply The Best in 1990.
But it was right at the end of the ad and the filming for Meninga's spot was done right at the end of the day, meaning he didn't really get to know the queen of rock'n'roll.
Andrew Johns described the Raiders' performance in their loss to Manly on Sunday as "rank" and couldn't be convinced to pick them to bounce back despite the big names missing for Souths due to Origin.
The Rabbitohs are flying high but will be challenged by the next six weeks due to the top tier talent missing, with Latrell Mitchell and Cameron Murray joined by Jai Arrow in the interstate clash.
While Canberra will be without Hudson Young (NSW) and Elliott Whitehead (suspension) they have the luxury of calling on rep class players Jack Wighton and Josh Papali'i due to their recent retirements...
Nick Cotric could get honorary status as a forward, with the Canberra Raiders big boppers backing the winger to do a job in the middle if needed.
But the Raiders middles were ready to take on the responsibility of big minutes against second-placed South Sydney at Homebush on Saturday.
Cotric was named on the bench for the clash for his first NRL game back from a hamstring injury, having played NSW Cup last weekend.
