Canberra Raiders' Joe Tapine grown into a future New Zealand Kiwis leader: Ricky Stuart
It's not just Joe Tapine's game that's gone to the next level - throwing Ricky Stuart-esque cut-out passes to wingers and the like - but his leadership as well.
So much so, the aforementioned Stuart believes he could lead his country.
They're words that will no doubt carry weight with New Zealand coach Michael Maguire, who played with Stuart at the Green Machine back in the day.
Raiders pinch last-gasp 20-18 win over Knights
Canberra are well and truly in the NRL finals hunt after beating Newcastle at home on Sunday afternoon, although their 20-18 win was far from convincing.
The Raiders led 14-0 through just 25 minutes but threw it away to trail 18-14 late in the second half and look destined for a shocking loss before Hudson Young’s last-minute try lifted them to victory.
Reeling from last week’s 36-point belting at the hands of Penrith, the Knights dug in after a poor start and only trailed 14-12 when Kalyn Ponga set up Mat Croker to score with more than 20 minutes to play.
