  • Have the Raiders officially killed the 'Faders' tag? These stars reveal reasons for turnaround

    Melanie Dinjaski

Canberra Raiders had a strong comeback, defeating Dolphins 40-28, ending their "Faders" reputation.

    The Canberra Times

Some will say it's too early to declare. Others will wince at the thought of jinxing a Canberra Raiders purple patch. But numbers don't lie, and the Raiders' best start to a season in six years may have officially killed the "Faders" nickname.

Forwards Hudson Young and Matty Nicholson certainly think so after the Raiders flipped the script to beat the Dolphins on the weekend.

The Raiders were down by 18 points at half-time before rallying to score 30 unanswered points in a 40-28 win at home.

Six players charged by MRC after Sunday’s matches

Six players charged after Sunday matches; Nikora, Pole, and Nikorima face fines for high tackles.

    Zero Tackle

The Match Review Committee (MRC) has charged six players following the conclusion of the two matches that took place on Sunday involving the Canberra Raiders and The Dolphins and Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers.

After being sent to the sin-bin, Briton Nikora ($1000-2500) and Fonua Pole ($1000-1500) have both escaped with fines after being charged with Grade 1 Careless High Tackles.

Dolphins five-eighth Kodi Nikorima was the last player charged and was slapped with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge but considering it is his first offence, he only faces a fine between $1000-1500.

Kodi Nikorima, Briton Nikora and Fonua Pole have all escaped bans despite being sent to the sin bin on Sunday as part of the NRL's crackdown on high tackles.

It takes the full sum of the round eight's charge sheet to 19 players and 20 offences, totalling $17,350 in fines (assuming all players fined accept the charge and pay) and up to 23 weeks of suspensions.

All told, 18 players were sent to the sin bin across the eight matches in round eight.
