NRL considers free agency overhaul after contract disputes, but system remains unchanged despite concerns.

    The Canberra Times

A trio of contract bombshells has forced the NRL to consider a drastic overhaul of its free agency system, but one coach fears the "ugly look for our game" will never change.

The NRL news cycle has been dominated by player negotiations, million-dollar deals and has promoted a renewed push for a transfer window or trade period to avoid similar distractions in the future.

Saints hold off Sea Eagles in a 20-18 win, despite Manly's struggles without Tom Trbojevic.

St George Illawarra have survived another NRL capitulation, holding off Manly to win 20-18 and condemn the Sea Eagles to a third-straight loss without fullback Tom Trbojevic.

After starting 2025 with plenty of promise, the Sea Eagles' season is delicately-poised after two tries from Tyrell Sloan helped the Dragons claim victory in front of 17,254 at Brookvale Oval on Thursday.

It is Manly's third-consecutive loss without Trbojevic, who remains sidelined with a knee injury, and comes after a testing period of three games in 11 days.
